Data and freshness

Every route fact keeps the limits of its source.

Electroute combines road, charger, vehicle and availability sources. Static station records are never presented as live status, and a source that cannot support a fact does not get upgraded by application copy.

Places and roads

Google Places supplies place suggestions and resolved place identity. Google Routes supplies the calculated road geometry, distance and driving time. Electroute does not persist selected places, road geometry or planned trips.

Static charging directory

The U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) is the primary source for imported charging locations, connector standards and power in Canada and the United States. Licence-compatible Open Charge Map contributor records supplement only measured AFDC gaps that pass conservative identity rules. These records say where charging infrastructure was reported; they are not live availability.

Selected-stop live availability

TomTom is queried only for selected primary stops within a bounded free allowance. A live count crosses into the plan only when Electroute can safely associate one TomTom station with the imported station. Missing handles, ambiguous matches, timeouts, rate limits and empty responses remain unknown.

TomTom’s response does not include an observation timestamp. Electroute therefore shows a short age ceiling measured from its own check—worded as “checked in the last …”—rather than claiming a source observation time it does not have.

Vehicle specifications

Natural Resources Canada supplies the public battery-electric vehicle catalogue used for rated range and energy consumption. The source does not publish each model’s DC connector. Electroute applies a dated, conservative curation rule and labels profiles whose connector is derived rather than directly sourced.

Arrival charge

Arrival charge is calculated by Electroute from the vehicle profile, route segments and a simplified winter assumption. It is always a range, never a single prediction. The interface states the cold-weather assumption beside the result.

Known directory gaps

Some source records cannot be validated and are quarantined instead of imported. When a plan searches an affected jurisdiction, Electroute states that its own records are incomplete there. This describes the imported data—not everything that may exist along the road.
