How it works
From where you are to a charging plan you can inspect.
Electroute calculates the road first, then builds the charging plan around the selected vehicle, current charge, compatible connectors and evidence available for each stop.
1. Select real places
The destination and origin are selected from Google place suggestions or, with permission, the browser’s current location. Typed text is not treated as a place until it has been resolved.
2. Choose the car and current charge
The vehicle catalogue supplies rated range and energy use. Connector compatibility comes from a curated rule when the public vehicle source does not publish it; those assumptions are labelled in the planner.
3. Calculate the road route
Google Routes supplies road geometry, distance and driving time. Electroute keeps the charging decision: charger locations are queried near that road geometry rather than sent to Google as waypoints.
4. Build a compatible stop chain
The planner queries an imported static directory and selects compatible DC-fast stops that keep each leg within the vehicle’s estimated charge and reserve. The energy model is deliberately simplified for winter and produces arrival-charge bands rather than point predictions.
5. Check status without guessing
TomTom is queried for selected-stop live availability. A count appears only when Electroute can match the selected directory station to one unambiguous live station. A miss, ambiguity, timeout, rate limit or empty answer remains unknown and never becomes zero.
6. Reserve and change a backup
Each stop names a reachable fallback when the route has one in reserve. Alternatives are ordered near the route and can be selected for recalculation. The current plan stays on screen if a proposed replacement does not close.
7. Plan the way back from the arrival range
A return trip starts from the charge range calculated at the destination, not an invented full battery. If that charge cannot close the return, Electroute states the charge that would; it does not assume charging at the destination.
Electroute is a planner, not turn-by-turn navigation. Drivers should still check road conditions, their own range and the charging network before relying on a stop.
